J O Hambro Investment Management to rebrand to Waverton

Discretionary boutique adopts new name but retains Hambro tradition and culture. Management and staff remain as significant shareholders in the business.

London, 13th January, 2014: J O Hambro Investment Management (JOHIM) is today announcing that it has changed its name to Waverton Investment Management. The rebrand follows the sale of the JOHIM business by Credit Suisse in 2013 to Bermuda listed financial services group, Somers Limited, and management in 2013.

The London based specialist investment manager provides discretionary portfolio management for private clients, charities and institutions.  In addition, it offers a range of offshore funds through its Dublin-based Waverton Fund range.

Hugh Grootenhuis, Chief Executive, Waverton Investment Management, said: “Today’s announcement represents a change in name only. The underlying structure of the business remains the same and we will continue to offer the same high quality service and seek the superior investment performance that our clients have always expected of us."

“The business has been through a year of exciting progress and the change of our name to Waverton is part of that journey. As a firm, we are committed to offering clients an exceptional investment service and will continue to invest in our internationally focused investment resources. Our aim remains to be acknowledged as one of the leading independent investment management firms."

“Waverton is not a new name for us. Our existing funds, a number of which are award winning and highly rated, have used the Waverton banner since 2004 and are well known to our clients. Waverton was originally chosen as it is the name of the Gloucestershire family home of Richard Hambro, our co-founder and late Chairman."

Grootenhuis continued: “While the name may therefore be new to some, the history and experience underpinning the business are extensive and we feel that the name Waverton not only gives us a clear identity going forward, but also acknowledges the original foundations and values on which the company has been built."
