Waverton signs United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment
Waverton is pleased to announce that we have signed the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) is an international network of investors working together to put its six principles into practice. Its goal is to understand the implications of sustainability for investors and support signatories to incorporate these issues into their investment decision-making and ownership practices. There are 6 Principles for Responsible Investment that are voluntary and aspirational, designed to promote the inclusion of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors in investment decision making:
- Incorporate ESG factors into investment analysis and decision-making
- Be active owners and incorporate ESG into ownership policies and practices
- Seek disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest
- Promote the principles in the investment industry
- Work together to enhance the implementation of the principles
- Report on our activities and progress towards implementing the principles
In implementing the Principles, signatories contribute to the development of a more sustainable global financial system.
William Dinning, Chief Investment Officer said … “As a signatory, we are demonstrating that these principles are embedded within our investment process. Investing responsibly lends itself to a rigorous, fundamental, bottom-up approach to security analysis and selection, a feature that has been at the core of Waverton’s investment process since our inception. It also provides a clear message to the company management we meet that their approach to ESG issues is an integral part of our assessment of their potential long-term growth, sustainability and delivery of value to investors.”
PRI CEO Fiona Reynolds said: “We are very pleased to welcome Waverton Investment Management as a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). In joining PRI, Waverton is demonstrating clear recognition of the importance of incorporating Economic, Social and Governance factors into investment strategies. We look forward to working with the Waverton team.”
